What is a boat and dock check?

A boat and dock check is a visual look at your boat, lift and dock lines, done from the dock during your regular home watch visit. If you live on a canal or the water in Marco Island, Naples or Bonita Springs, the dock and the boat are part of your property, and they are easy to forget when you are away for weeks.

On each visit we look at the boat, the lift and the lines, and we compare what we see with the last visit. A line that looks different, a boat that sits differently or a lift that looks out of place goes into your report with a photo. If something looks wrong, we call you right away with photos so you can decide what to do.

This add-on is billed monthly with your home watch plan. It is a check and a report. Boat maintenance, cleaning, engine starts and repairs are not part of it and are quoted separately if you want them. Tell us at your free walkthrough what you would like us to watch for.

Who is a Boat & Dock Check a good fit for?

Canal and bay-front owners

Your dock and boat sit behind your home on Marco Island, in Naples or in Bonita Springs, and you want them seen regularly.

Snowbirds and seasonal owners

The boat sits unused for months, and you want to hear about loose lines or changes before you return.

Owners in hurricane season

Docks, lifts and lines are the first things a storm tests, so a regular look gives you a recent photo record.

Second-home owners

You visit a few times a year and want the dock and boat included in the report you already receive.

Answers

What do owners ask about Boat & Dock Check?

What does a boat and dock check include?

On each home watch visit we visually check your boat, lift and dock lines from the dock, look for changes since the last visit and add a photo of the boat and dock to your report. If something looks wrong, we call you right away. It is a visual check only and does not include maintenance or repairs.

How much does Boat & Dock Check cost?

It costs $40 per month. It is a flat monthly add-on to a True North Home Watch plan and is billed along with the plan. Home watch plans start at $110 a month. Boat maintenance, cleaning, engine starts and repairs are not included and are quoted separately if you want them. Tell us at your free walkthrough what you would like us to watch for.

Will you start my boat's engine or clean the boat?

No. This add-on is a visual check of the boat, lift and dock lines from the dock. Boat maintenance, cleaning, engine starts and repairs are not part of it and are quoted separately. Tell us during your walkthrough what you would like help with, and we will confirm what is possible and the cost.

What happens if you see a problem at the dock?

We contact you right away with photos and a clear description of what we saw. With your approval we can coordinate a vendor, such as your marine technician, and meet them at the property. The vendor bills you directly. You never have to travel just to let someone in, and you stay in control of every decision.

Can I add it to my existing home watch plan?

Yes. Boat & Dock Check is added to your home watch plan, so you do not need to start a new plan. Call (239) 301-8657 or email info@truenorthhws.com, tell us which home it is for, and we confirm the details and the start date with you. The check happens at your regular scheduled home watch visits.

Does a boat and dock check protect my boat in a storm?

No. A visual check does not prevent storm damage, and True North does not promise any outcome. What it gives you is a regular, dated photo record of how the boat, lift and lines looked, and a quick call if something changes. Ask us about storm services for waterfront homes too.
