What is the Hurricane Protection Package?

The Hurricane Protection Package is a storm-timed service for homes that may be empty when a named storm approaches. It combines a pre-storm visit and a post-storm visit for one flat fee per storm, so you know the price before the forecast turns. Package clients are inspected first, before and after the storm.

Before the storm, we secure or bring in reasonable outdoor furniture and loose items, check doors, windows and accessible areas, and photograph the home. After the storm, when it is safe, we inspect for visible damage, check for water intrusion and leaks, check the A/C and humidity, and report to you promptly.

It fills the gap between regular home watch visits. A home watch plan checks your home on a schedule; the package adds priority visits timed around a named storm. Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, so we recommend reserving before the season peaks.

What’s included

What is included in the Hurricane Protection Package?

Priority pre-storm inspection

When a storm is named, your home moves to the front of our list for a client-priority inspection before the storm arrives.

Doors and windows checked

We check doors, windows and accessible areas before the storm and note anything that needs attention.

Before-storm photo record

Thorough photo documentation of your home's condition before the storm, so you have a record for possible insurance claims.

Immediate notification

After the pre-storm service, you are notified right away and receive a report of what we did and saw.

Priority post-storm inspection

When it is safe, your home is inspected first for visible damage inside and out, with dated photos.

Water and A/C check

We check for water intrusion and leaks in accessible areas, and check the A/C and humidity.

Vendor coordination

After the storm, we help coordinate service providers if needed, with your approval. The providers bill you directly.

Answers

What do people ask about Hurricane Protection Package?

What does the Hurricane Protection Package include?

Before a named storm: a priority inspection, outdoor furniture and loose items secured, doors, windows and accessible areas checked, photo documentation and an immediate notification. After the storm: a priority inspection for visible damage, a water intrusion and A/C check, a prompt report and help coordinating service providers or an insurance claim if needed.

How much does the package cost?

It is one flat fee per storm, covering both the pre-storm and post-storm visits: $450 for homes up to 2,500 sq. ft. and $600 for homes from 2,501 to 5,000 sq. ft. For homes over 5,000 sq. ft., call (239) 301-8657 for a quote. Shutter installation, repairs and other third-party costs are billed separately by those providers.

Do I need a home watch plan to use the package?

No. The package is a separate, storm-timed service. A home watch plan checks your home on a regular schedule, while the package adds priority visits around a named storm. Many owners use both, and we are glad to explain how they fit together during your free walkthrough. See our home watch plans.

How do I get started?

Request a free walkthrough from our contact page, call (239) 301-8657 or email info@truenorthhws.com. We confirm your home's details and add it to our storm priority list. Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, so reserving before the season peaks is best. Please do not wait until a storm is already on the map.

Do you install shutters or make repairs?

No. Shutter installation and removal, heavy-item or specialty equipment moving and repairs are not included. We can coordinate your shutter company and help coordinate service providers with your approval, and they bill you directly. We prepare, inspect, document and report, then leave the repair decisions to you. Ask us about any job you are unsure of.

Will you help with my insurance claim?

If you need it, yes. Our before-and-after photos document your home's condition, and claim assistance is part of the package. Your insurer makes all coverage decisions, and we cannot guarantee approval. Check your policy and deductible with your insurance agent, and keep your photo records handy for your agent or adjuster.
